.....Goldale (or Golddale) School, District #14, was named for the placer gold mining that was still going on in the area when the school was built. Located in the Russelville area, Goldale served the students between Case and Franktown . According the Josephine Marr in Douglas County: a Historical Journey the district was formed in 1886 and was called the McCracken District after G. S. McCracken, a local resident. At some point, the building moved south of its original location to the east side of Russelville Road, 7 miles south of Franktown.

.....There were probably between seven and fifteen students on average, and many of the older students in the area attended Douglas County High School, returning the area on weekends and boarding in Castle Rock during the week. The school district consolidated with several others to form the Cherry Valley School (District 40) in 1952. Even before that time, the Goldale School had closed and the land was annexed to Franktown (District 2) and Irving (District 24) school districts.
