.....The Plum Creek or Acequia School (District # 16) was built in 1911, but the district was formed earlier, as it is listed on the 1899 School Tax List published in the Castle Rock Record Journal. Located on the banks of Plum Creek, the school was built of white limestone. The building had two rooms, a stage, and a kitchen with running water. This building was torn down when Chatfield Dam was constructed after the 1965 flood.
.....A newer building was constructed in 1951 or 1952 and was red brick. It originally had three classrooms, but was added on to in 1955, 1960 and 1972. By 1973, the building had space for music classes, special education, kindergarten, a kitchen and an all-purpose room, a lunchroom and a library. The school is still in use for alternative education.
.....The 1951 school is about 1 mile south of the Blakeland Underpass on Highway 83, on Carder Road.
