Heavy rains on the Palmer Divide and the Cherry area cause flooding in Elbert and Kiowa, wiping out bridges, railroads and about 40 houses. Earlier in the month, Cherry Creek experienced flooding in the area of Franktown, wiping out a bridge, which the Civilian Conservation Corps repaired. (Castle Rock Record-Journal, June 7. 1935).
